Daily Devotional for September 12

September 12                                                      Mark 16:1-8

"They were saying to one another, 'Who will roll away
the stone for us from the door of the tomb?' And looking
up, they saw that the stone was rolled back... ."

The women set out in the early morning to anoint Jesus' body
with oils. They went even though there was a crucial obstacle:
the stone that closed the entrance of the tomb was much too
heavy for any of them to move. Even several of them working
together could not move that stone. How would they get to
Jesus?

How often do we shrink away because of an obstacle that we
feel is separating us from Christ? The obstacle could be our
sexuality, the anger we've kept bottled up inside, or the feel-
ing that we're not good enough. Often we're convinced that
the obstacle can't be removed, and we never start on the
journey toward Christ at all. Yet no wall can keep us from
Christ, unless we let it get in the way.

Learn from the women who started out on that resurrection
morning. They began the journey, even though they had no
idea how the stone would be removed. When they reached
Christ's tomb, the stone was already rolled back and the news
of the risen Christ greeted them. Begin the journey toward
living in union with God today and never mind about the huge
stones. God will find a way to remove them when the time
is right.

Is there anything keeping you from accepting Christ fully into
your life? Offer it today to the love of the Redeemer, the love
which knows no bounds and removes all obstacles.
