Daily Devotional for May 30
May 30 Luke 15:1-10
Dear Jesus, we understand the angels' joy when one lost sheep
is returned safely to the shepherd's fold. We rejoice when you
have found the one who went astray. We happily join you
in reaching out to those who have wandered away and need
the strong shepherd's hand to lift them out of a pit or rescue
them from the bramble bush. We will help seek out the lost
and bring them back into your care, as you have asked.
But sometimes we feel neglected. We have not wandered
away. We have faithfully remained near the flock. We have
heard your voice and followed wherever you led us. We have
joined our brothers and sisters in prayer and worship. We have
stayed with them in sorrow and sickness. We have served in
the ways we could and walked along with you. Do you love
us, too?
My little ones, how dearly I love all of you. What
would I do if all my sheep ran away at once? If you
were all scattered, surely the wolves would devour
you, and I would mourn the loss of many sheep.
Of course, you are precious to me. I want you by
my side always. I feed you the greenest grass and
give you the purest water. I nurse you to health and
comfort you when you are afraid or lonely. All of
you belong to me.
Do not be afraid, little flock, for I will never neglect
my own. You will all be safe. You will all come
home with me. I will never leave you alone, even
in the midst of plenty. I know you need to be held
in my arms sometimes, and I will not deny you. For
you are my beloved ones.
