Daily Devotional for May 17

May 17                                                         Luke 11:53-12:12

My child, do not flee the darkness. Do not fear the grave. I
see even the nesting sparrow with my eye. I have numbered
each hair of your head. I hold you in my hand. How could
I not know your dwelling beneath the earth?

The body dies. The persecutor and oppressor are limited by
the grave. Their power is exhausted. They slip beneath the
vast sea of forgotten pain. But you shall be with me in paradise.
I have gone before to prepare for you a dwelling place.

Therefore, do not be afraid to stand before judges and
presidents and legislators who dare to condemn those whom
the Lord has redeemed. I shall teach you what to say before
them in that hour. Their prisons and weapons shall not con-
strain you from your truth.

Yes, my child, you must confess your faith in me before those
who cannot believe that you are mine. You must proclaim my
love to all the little ones who would come to me, whatever
their acceptability. Let no one prevent them, for my realm
belongs to these. The hypocrisy of those who would deny them
entrance shall be revealed. Their cloak of righteousness shall
become a tattered rag, unfit to cover their nakedness. My little
ones shall walk in love, unafraid.

Remember that I have said the first shall be last, and the last
shall be first. Those who have been despised and rejected shall
stand redeemed and glorified in places of honor in my house
of many mansions. So you need not fear the darkness. The
grave is but the gateway into your eternal home.
