FRANK SCOTT: A Brief Biography

A native of Syracuse, New York, I graduated from Syracuse University (1962) and was ordained as a Southern Baptist minister.  After graduation from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas (1966), I pastored Gateway Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, Pa. as a Home Missionary of the SBC.

After I came out (with a bang!), I founded MCC Pittsburgh in January, 1975 (my ordination was validated by UFMCC that same year) and pastored for 4 years, serving the last couple of years concurrently as District Coordinator of the Northeast District, UFMCC.  Following a 2 year pastorate in Richmond, Virginia, concurrent with pastoring MCC Norfolk, Virginia, there was a 4 year pastorate in MCC Ventura, California.

In 1986, I moved to England as pastor of MCC Bournemouth for 4 years, concurrent with founding and pastoring mission churches in Bath and Southampton and serving as Dean of Samaritan College in Europe.  My last three years in England were spent working at Samaritan College and serving a ministry which lay the foundation for new churches in England, Wales and Scotland.

I returned to the U.S. in 1993 and pastored MCC Asheville, North Carolina for 3 years.  Al Nettleton and I met in 1993 at the UFMCC General Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.  When we left Asheville, we moved to Athens, Georgia to begin a retreat ministry.  For reasons beyond our control, this did not materialize.  I retired in 2005 from active ministry.

Al and I will celebrate 22 years together in July this year.  We are active members of Our Hope MCC, Athens, Georgia.  We are “travel junkies” and have visited more than 120 countries in our travels.
