Daily Devotional for April 3
April 3 John 17:1-11
Daycare
You leave them - you know -
With people who mean well
And hold them.
But still there are all those
Electrical outlets and steps. And grapes
To choke on.
Even so, you go to work having found
The safest arms you can.
You rock them in the sunset -
Tired, both. And hungry
For each other.
Silent about why
You weren't together
All along.
Dear Creator,
When Jesus had finished his task, he asked your protection
for those he left behind. He did not do this without careful
thought and agonizing decision. He took precautions as best
he knew how: he prayed for our comfort and safety in a world
of spiritual danger. Help us to keep sight of the price he paid
and to be grateful for your generous protection. Too, may we
be eager for the warm reunion with you after so many weary
days of managing this life.
